A jobseeker with Britain’s biggest feet was hit with an bill for a pair of steel toecap work boots.
Carl Griffiths, aged 23,
is 6′ 8″ tall and wears size 21 shoes.
He received training as a warehouseman but was told he needed the boots to comply with health and safety rules for the job.
Carl said: “I couldn’t believe my ears and they couldn’t believe my feet. But there is no way I could afford that.
“My feet are enormous and I’ve always struggled finding shoes that fit.
“I had a pair which were a bit smaller from a few years ago but they broke when I was in work.
“I just hope my trotters don’t get any bigger.”
Meryl Gravell, leader of Carmarthenshire Council which backs the Communities First Jobs Growth charity,
said: “Carl’s was one of the more unusual requests received for help.
“The high cost of specially made boots was an obstacle in the way of Carl moving into the work he wanted.
“I’m delighted we’ve been able to make this very worthwhile investment in Carl’s future.”
