Spot celebrities at the third annual Athletes vs. Cancer football game hosted by Memphis Grizzlies basketball player Matt Barnes and rapper and actor Snoop Dogg, on Sunday, Aug. at UCLA Drake Stadium. Special guests will include Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan, Rick Ross, Wiz Khalifa, JaVale McGee, Dorrell Wright, DJ Quik and Omar Gooding.
Athletes vs. Cancer was founded by Barnes, a UCLA alumnus, in commemoration of his mother, Ann Catherine Barnes, who lost her battle to cancer in November 2007. The nonprofit organization strives to support and supply the necessary tools and resources for individuals and families affected by cancer. It provides financial grants to assist families with the costs of medical bills, treatments and medication. In addition, it facilitates opportunities for patients to socialize with fellow patients within their age group, outside of a medical setting.
The UCLA event is sponsored by Snoop Youth Football League, UCLA Medical Center, Teen Cancer America, Los Angeles Trial Lawyers Charities, Adidas, Body Armor, Mancini Inc. and Maybach Music Group. All proceeds will go to the Athletes vs. Cancer Scholarship Fund for current cancer patients and survivors who are pursuing a college degree.
Admission is $15 for general seating, $10 with a BruinCard. Preferred seating is $50; $35 with BruinCard. Purchase tickets at the UCLA Central Ticket Office or Ticketmaster.
