London derby at WembleyTottenham v West Ham (Wed, 20:00 BST)

It’s always a bit feisty when Tottenham play West Ham, on and off the field. Spurs beat the Hammers 3 2 at the London Stadium in September and both clubs were fined 20,000 for failing to control their players after a late melee.

Tonight at Wembley they meet in the fourth round of the League Cup and it’s important for both sides, with Spurs seeking a first major trophy since they won this competition in 2008.

Danny Rose, who came on as a sub at Real Madrid last week and has grown some dreadlocks during his absence, is set to start for the Lilywhites for the first time since suffering that serious injury at Sunderland in January.

Manager Roy Hodgson also refused to criticise supporters following the incident with Souare: “Our fans are very good and are a major weapon, so the last thing I am ever going to do is say anything negative about them,” Hodgson told the London Evening Standard.

“They are really suffering at the moment. If they are showing signs of displeasure, I think they are entitled to that.

“But I am sorry for Pape. Because he has had to work very hard to get back from a long term injury and I am certain him throwing his shirt into the crowd was a positive gesture on his part. So I hope he does not take that too unkindly.”
