Nine of the top 10 double A teams in the province will battle it out to either solidify or improve their positioning this weekend at the George Elliot Coyote Classic boys volleyball tournament.

The host GESS Coyotes go into the two day 20 team tournament on Friday ranked No. 9 as the Valley playoffs approach. championships Nov. 28 Dec. 1 in Kelowna.

No. 1 ranked Duchess Park Condors of Prince George will be the team to beat this weekend, while MEI of Abbotsford and Langley Christian, the No. 2 and 3 teams respectively, will also be here. College Heights (Prince George), Pacific Christian (Victoria) and Revelstoke, ranked No. 5 through No. 7 respectively, will hit the GESS courts in Lake Country as well this weekend.

Four 3A teams will also be taking part, including the Kelowna Owls, who have moved into the No. 2 spot in the provincial rankings.

The Owls are coming off a fourth place finish at the Thompson Rivers University high school tournament this past weekend.

Led by Grade 12s Ty Campbell and Tyler Pomietlarz, KSS knocked off previously No. 2 ranked Oak Bay in quarter final play and gave No. 1 Fraser Heights of Surrey a good battle but lost in the semifinals.
